Dave and Gail: Our house(s) photos

Where are we now?

Back to St Kilda

We're over the old house thing. Let's try a place where the floors are level and the walls are straight. Plus there's a 3-car lock up garage, which is most excellent because St Kilda can be a hard place to find parking.

Here's some photos from the brochure (not our stuff).

Nunawading farm house

In 2002, we moved away from the hills back to the convenience of suburban life. We're now living in a 1890's Victoria farmhouse (one of the oldest houses in Melbourne's eastern suburbs: original valuation 25 Pounds!). So far the work we've done on the house has been limited to repairs. But give us time! We're sure that we'll eventually start to miss plaster dust and the smell of paint!

We had a visit recently from a lady whose grandfather originally owned the house (he's the one in the back at the left side of the second photo below). The family welcomed her father, Jack, back from WW I.

Belgrave House resort

We moved to "Belgrave House" in 1999. This house (which was a resort in the 1920's) was set in over an acre of landscaped garden and was right on the edge of the forest. We did a bit of modernising to the house (mainly updating the plumbing and letting more natural light into the house by knocking down walls and adding windows and skylights). Here's some before, during & after shots, plus a few aspects of the garden.

Sept. 03: Someone wants to build a house next door, so the trees have to go. Even one on Caporn Ave. (foreground)!

St Kilda cottage

We lived in an 1880's workers' cottage in East St Kilda for many years. The sprucing up didn't happen until just before we sold the house. Should have done it a bit sooner, so we could have got more enjoyment out if it ourselves!
